Something's in the air ...Two exclusive designers share their scents with DC by Tali Jaffe 11-22-2002
Jo Malone and Montgomery Taylor are two of the hottest names in fragrances at the moment. And if their success is to serve as a maker for their longevity in the industry, they may soon join the ranks of classic scents such as Shalimar and Chanel No. 5. But unlike their classic predecessors the new classics embody much earthier notes in their palette.

As for Montgomery Taylor, his story begins with the bottle itself. A long time fragrance man, he worked for Lancome for 12 years, Taylor was no stranger to the power of scent. After travelling to Italy, where he learned the art of glassblowing, Taylor decided to fuse these two elements into one decisive product. The result was the birth of Ambra di Venezia, a unique fragrance inspired by the essence of Venice. The colors of sunset reflected on the many canals in Venice is captured in the bottles glass, and the scent held within are reminiscent of the city as well; orange, lime, sandalwood and jasmine.
As of yet, Ambra di Venezia is available in only a few selected locations in the United States and Europe. But, this writer has been privy to some information that should make all of those who don't have a trip to Italy planned in the near future rest assured that they too will have the chance to experience the essence bottled in Ambra di Venezia.
